We offer everything from basic wellness exams to diagnostic testing and surgeries. The following services are offered:
Puppy and Kitten Wellness Examinations and Vaccinations: Puppies and kittens require 4 sets of vaccinations to help prevent common diseases, such as parvo and distemper for puppies, and various upper respiratory infections for kittens. We begin vaccines at 6 weeks, and they are given every 3 weeks thereafter until the series is finished. We also check for intestinal parasites that are common to the area, including roundworms, hookworms, and Coccidia, among others. At 12 weeks, we begin your new pet on heartworm prevention. Heartworm disease is spread by mosquitos, and the disease is very prevalent in South Texas. We also highly recommend microchipping, and offer this service for pets of any age. Spaying/neutering is recommended at 6 months of age.
Annual Wellness Examinations and Vaccinations: Once your pet reaches "adulthood", vaccines are recommended on an annual basis. For dogs, this includes the Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella vaccines. Bordetella is recommended every 6 months for dogs that regularly come into contact with other dogs, such as in boarding or grooming facilities. We also recommend an annual flu vaccine to protect your pet against the H3N2 and H3N8 strains of flu. An annual heartworm test is also performed. Cats are vaccinated against Rabies, a series of upper respiratory infections (FVRCP), and Feline Leukemia Virus.
